When I try to export the full database in AT4 1.0 (51) (TestFlight), everything looks fine at first. On the first attempt, however, the app crashed after about 20 percent. After several attempts, I get as far as 33 percent, but it won’t go any further. Now I see several export folders of varying sizes.
My goal is to update to AT4 1.2.1 (App Store). Even though it seems a database export isn’t required for this, I’d feel better if I had a current, complete database backup just to be safe.
There’s genuinely zero risk to moving from TestFlight build to App Store build. The phone doesn’t care where it came from - it handles it the same as if it were an update through the App Store. You can switch between TestFlight and App Store builds back and forth with no harm (I sometimes do it while testing).
That said, it sounds like the database exports are failing for you, so regardless of whether you need an export at this point, we still need to figure out what’s happening there and get it fixed.
I think where we should start first is looking at the debug log files. Head to Settings → Debug Logs, and find any log(s) relevant to when you were doing the exports that failed or crashed. We’ll want to poke about in those to look for errors (or anything really) around when those failures happened.
You could also email me the log(s) at matt@bigpaua.com, so I can poke about in more detail on my side. Hopefully those will tell us what’s going on.
And while we’re debugging those, yeah still perfectly safe to go with switching to the App Store build.
