Why us it taking so long (4 days so far…) to reindex (?) after installing iOS 27? Seems to have gone into an infinity loop - Gets to Serious / Critical thermal state in settings. Also chewing battery levels. Screenshot attached.
@pjsee Thanks for the screenshot. First, please don’t delete or reinstall Arc Timeline 4 for now; the data on the phone is what we’d want to look at. A day should load in a few seconds, so this isn’t something to wait out.
These will help us see what’s happening:
- A diagnostics bundle for the first day this happened (about four days ago). On the Timeline tab, go to that day, tap the ⋯ button at the top right of the map → Export Diagnostics → Continue, then choose Mail and send it to matt@bigpaua.com, mentioning you’re pjsee. If the export doesn’t work, a screenshot of Settings → Advanced → Debug Info instead.
- Does Today load, or does every day show the spinner?

@pjsee Thanks — the bundle and the screenshot arrived, and they show what’s going on. It’s a known problem on some devices where days load extremely slowly or seem not to load at all, and it’s the same thing that’s been working the phone hard. The fix is in the next update; I’ll post here as soon as it’s available.
Two things to have ready for when it arrives: make sure the phone has at least a few gigabytes free (photos, videos or other apps are the place to find it), and give the first launch time to finish its “Database updating” step — plugged in, app open, and the screen kept from locking (tap it now and then). It can take a while on a big timeline. Until then there’s no need to delete or reinstall Arc itself.

Yep, like @Palmin said, this one’s already on the way! As long as Apple approves the build it should be live on the App Store later today.
@pjsee It’s out: Arc Timeline 4 version 1.7.3 is on the App Store now. Update from the App Store directly rather than waiting for the automatic update: open the App Store, tap your profile picture, and Arc Timeline 4 should be in the list (pull down to refresh if not; if it’s under Updated Recently, you already have it). Then the three things from above: a few gigabytes free, plugged in, and the app open with the screen kept from locking (tap it now and then) until “Database updating” finishes. Let us know how it goes, including if the “Database updating” step never appears.

Updated app as instructed. The “Database updating” window appeared and did its job.
Everything appears to be working well now.
