Hello, I’m using an IPhone 16 with 26.5 software and the new Arc Timeline 4 just keeps repeating the 2 stage process of importing my data from the original app. I have tried time and time again to no avail. I have tried with both the original app open and closed but no luck. There is plenty of storage on the phone and I can’t think of anything else to try.
Thanks
Richie Flanagan
Hi Richie. What you’re describing sounds like the import is hitting a problem partway through and auto-retrying — it deliberately resumes on each launch until it completes, so something is repeatedly stopping it rather than it forgetting it ran. A few details would help pin down what’s stopping it:
-
At the end of each attempt, what do you actually see — an error message, the app closing itself, or does it look finished before starting over the next time you open the app?
-
Roughly how long does each attempt run?
-
About how many years of data are in the original app?
-
Is this iPhone 16 a phone you moved to recently? If so, how did the original app’s data get onto it — restored from an iCloud backup, or direct phone-to-phone transfer?
If you have access to a computer, the app’s log files would tell us the exact error. Connect the phone to a Mac, open Finder, select the iPhone, go to the Files tab, and you’ll find Arc Timeline 4 → Logs — the most recent few files are the useful ones. You can post them here or email them to matt@bigpaua.com. (If you’re on Windows, say so and I’ll give you the equivalent steps.) We’re also making the app handle this situation properly rather than looping (BIG-598).
The answers to 1 and 4 alone may be enough to figure this out, so don’t worry if the computer step isn’t convenient.
