Sometimes there are two places that are close to each other. In those cases Arc just records the whole thing as one place. When I try to split one stationary segment into two stationary segments, there is no way to separate places.
So it would be great if I could say, split this stationary segment into two and assign a different place to the second segment.
@diversario I agree! This bit of UX is poor. It should be better.
There is a workaround, which I’ll describe:
Split the stationary segment into something like stationary → motorcycle (I choose motorcycle because it’s red and obvious)
Then split the motorcycle segment into motorcycle → stationary
Then assign the new stationary segment to the separate place
Clean up the leftover motorcycle bit however best suits. Sometimes I change it to walking, if there’s enough detail there to use as a walking item between the two visits. But sometimes there’s not enough to work with, so I end up changing it back to stationary.
That way you can successfully split out the second half (or first half if you want to do it that way) and get it assigned to the correct separate place. But yeah, it’s fiddly, and definitely not how it should be.
I’ll put some thought into how this could be done better!
