Hi there
Is there a way to import google timeline (google takeout) data into Arc? The new google timeline export format with timestamps.

If the data needs to be in some kind of different format, thats no problem, can change it into almost whatever fileformat.

There’s a feature request for this on the Changemap site. The more votes the sooner I can prioritise time for it.

Though these days, with the power of AIs, it’s probably not too much of a challenge to get a custom format translator built. Arc can import GPX and also Arc’s own JSON format used in its iCloud Drive backups.

The latter is more powerful / contains more detailed information, but the choice of which to go with will depend on how much detail Google have in their export format. If their format doesn’t contain more detail than the GPX standard supports, then GPX would be fine.

Do you know if/where I can find some documentation for the arc json format, so I can create files.

There’s no official docs for the Arc JSON format. But if you’ve got Arc’s optional iCloud Drive backups turned on in the Settings tab you’ll be able to see what the format looks like. And I’m happy to answer any questions about it here!

Same issue for me …

Hi @Gunther! Yeah we’re looking at hopefully having Google Timeline import ready for the v1.1 update, ie the next major update after v1.0 goes live (which is possibly today or tomorrow - we’re just waiting on Apple now).
