Double charged for new app-help

I have a lifetime subscription to Arc but when I downloaded the new app it charged me for an annual subscription even though it says th subscription transfers. I cannot find any way within th app to contact the developer for help with this. Thank you

Hi @Bjmomo! I’m the developer, so you’ve definitely come to the right place to contact me.

The first step we’ll want to do here is getting that new subscription cancelled. Head to iOS Settings app → account (at the top) → Subscriptions, and find the subscription and cancel it there.

If it was still in the free trial phase, then that’s all you’ll need to do on that one. But if it’d already rolled over into charging you, you’ll beed to head to https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ and request a refund. The correct type will be something like “accidental purchase”.

The next step is to tap the “Restore Purchases” button in the old app, to make sure your existing Lifetime properly carries over to the new app. Most of the time it’s automatic, with no action required. But sometimes the App Store cached info is out of date and needs a bit of a push.

Oh, for the old app, first go into the App Store and make sure you’ve got the latest version of the old app installed, which is 3.17.3. (The old app is listed as “Arc Timeline - Trips & Places”, while the new app is listed as “Arc Timeline 4”). The update makes the Restore button more visible - harder to miss.

Once you’ve tapped that Restore Purchases button in the old app, the carryover to the new app should be complete.

If anything doesn’t go as expected, definitely let me know!

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks so much for the fast response! My lifetime subscription is showing in the new app, I cancelled the erroneous subscription, and submitted the refund request.

Glad to hear that @Bjmomo!

The refund should be a sure thing. No reason for Apple to refuse the request. But if there’s problems definitely let me know!
