iCloud Backup | Arc Timeline vs Arc Timeline 4

Hello Matt, and congratulations on the next version of Arc Timeline.

On my iPhone I now have the following 2 applications installed:

  • iPhone
    • Arc Timeline (icon purple background/purple arrow)
    • Arc Timeline 4 (icon white background/purple arrow)

On my iCloud I have the following backup folders:

  • iCloud
    • Arc App | 2.1 GB | /Users/xxx/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud~com~bigpaua~LearnerCoacher/Documents/
      • Backups
        • LocomotionSample
        • Note
        • place
        • TimelineItem
        • TimelineRangeSummary
      • Export
        • GPX
        • JSON
      • Import
    • Arc Timeline | 1.3 GB | /Users/xxx/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud~com~bigpaua~Arc-Timeline-Editor/Documents
      • Backup
        • 213E6C42-3E73-4AF1-A29F-96…
      • Exports
        • Daily
        • Weekly

Assuming that the Arc Timeline 4 is the only app I need going forward, which iCloud folder can I delete to free up space?

Thanks a lot

Hi @Candrox! Thanks :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The Arc Timeline folder on iCloud Drive is for the new app, while the Arc App one is for the old app.

You can delete the Arc App one if you like!

Though I’d personally hold off until you’re completely happy in the new app. There’s no technical need for the old folder’s contents to stick around, so I’m possibly just being unnecessarily conservative there.

That’s just my personal calibration - I’m quite deletion averse, due to being scared of deleting something that I realise later I wish I still had. Though in this case there’s genuinely no remaining need for the old app’s stuff, or even the old app itself, once you’re happy in the new app and decide you don’t want the old one around anymore.

Thanks a lot Matt. Removing the Arc App folder contents from iCloud but keeping a local copy.
