How to grant iOS calendar access?

I can’t figure out how to grant calendar access to Arc.

Here’s what I see in Arc:

And here’s iOS settings:

And in privacy settings:

Seems like I need a way to force Arc to ask for permission?

Thanks!

Brian

Tap the (i) in Arc settings for more information: To enable calendar access, you must try enabling calendar sync for a specific place. So, visit the Place Details for a location and tap the Calendar button.

Yep, what @earthsaver said!

Once you turn on calendar sync for a place Arc will request calendar access at that point.

It doesn’t ask until it’s needed, because (possibly) most people aren’t interested in calendar sync, so asking up front in onboarding during install might come across as asking for too much / asking for unnecessary things.

Thanks! That all makes sense, now. And thanks for not unnecessarily asking permissions. I hate that!

Yeah app onboarding flows that asks for everything and the kitchen sink have that feel of “eh? really? well now I don’t trust you” :joy: And Arc already asks for quite a lot during the first install onboarding!

Though all the ones currently in there are ones that can’t really be delayed until when needed, because they’re things that will be immediately needed anyway. Like (optional) Photos permission for timeline view, which you’re dropped into immediately after onboarding, and Health and Motion requests for recording, which starts straight away.

The app kind of needs a lot of bits! But at least the strong privacy focus means none of it is leaving the phone (or secure iCloud account, for backups).
