Arc v4: how to use calendar to store visits?

For the calendar visits functionality in v4, anything I need to do there?

When I go to Arc’s settings > permissions it shows “not determined” which can’t be changed. It mentions “requires full access to read existing events”, but I don’t see where I can enable / configure it.

When I go to iOS settings > privacy & security > calendars, I don’t see Arc listed.

Ah, this one is quite hidden. I was wanting to make it more prominent before the App Store release, but didn’t get a chance.

For now, it needs to be turned on one place at a time. Go into the item details view for a visit to a place that you want synced to calendar, scroll down to Place Details, tap into that, then on that view there’s a calendar button on the bottom toolbar. That’ll turn it on. And when you turn it on it’ll ask for calendar permissions that first time.

In one of the next updates I want to add a proper setting in the settings views, something like a toggle for “Enable calendar sync for all places”, so that it’s turned on for all by default. That’ll make it less of a fuss.

Thanks for the details!

The instructions worked. Can I select which calendar it should save it to? I did not see that option.

Will it save it for historic visits, or only future ones?

At this stage it’s super simple, with no calendar selection. It creates its own “Arc Timeline” calendar and manages all events within it.

But I’ve just filed a task for making it customisable. So you could for example select a Google calendar or some such, to get it syncing how/where you want.

One open question with that will be whether it has to be a calendar that only has Arc’s events in it, or whether it’d be allowed to be mixed. The latter is more difficult, but not impossible. But anyway once it comes time to building that feature we’ll figure that part out!

Good, a separate calendar is fine.

Whoa this might be the end of Swarm for me because I only use it to get a calendar record created! Very cool!
