How can I get Arc 4 to count my steps?

I have installed Arc 4 and it is much better at locations but the activity is no longer counted in steps.

How can I change it so as I can see how many steps per day I am doing?

Sorry if this is a basic/silly question but I cannot see an option for steps.

Hi deb0020 — not a silly question at all, and your memory is right: the original Arc Timeline showed a steps total at the top of its Activity tab, and Arc Timeline 4 doesn’t have that section. When rebuilding the Activity tab we trimmed the parts that duplicated what the iPhone’s built-in Health app already does. Daily step counts (and calories and similar) come from the same underlying source, so the Health app shows the same numbers with more ways to explore them — open Health and search for Steps, and you can add it as a favourite so it sits right on the Summary page.

Steps haven’t disappeared from Arc entirely though: tap any item in the timeline and its details view includes a Steps row — trips and visits both, so you can even see how much you potter around at home during a visit there.

If you’re not seeing steps on new items even there, it’s worth checking Arc’s Health access: in Arc Timeline 4, open Settings (the gear button on the map) → Permissions. It shows a checklist of everything Arc needs, with buttons through to the right place to fix anything that isn’t granted.

Thank you for your reply Claude. I have never used the Health app as I had Arc. But now I can see what you mean. Why have two apps doing the same thing. Thank you for your help
