How do I edit an incorrect place name on my timeline, for example to add a missing apostrophe? Thanks.
@ukexpat it depends on where the name came from.
If it’s a place you created yourself (a private place), you can rename it: tap the visit, open Place Details, then the ⋯ menu at the top right → Edit Place, and change the place name there.
If it’s a place from the places database (the ones that come up when you search by name), Arc can’t edit the database’s name. The way round it, from the visit: tap the visit, tap Edit, and in the menu at the bottom choose Add private place, which creates your own place with the name you want at that spot; the visit is assigned to it, and it’s there to pick for any later visit at that spot.
(Edited: an earlier version of this also suggested the Custom title option. That one is meant for one-off stops with no real place behind them, like being stuck in traffic; a visit with a custom title has no place at all, so it drops out of the Places tab, place stats and the place’s visit list. Not the right tool for a misspelt place name.)

Thanks for the reply. It’s from the database. I guess I’ll just have to grit my teeth and carry on when I see missing apostrophes and glaring misspellings.
@ukexpat one more thing on that: editing the name of a database place is filed as BIG-518. There’s no date on it.

@ukexpat You could also go to Google Maps and offer the edit there. That’s where the places come from (Google Places database), and I believe they do accept edit suggestions.
You can get to the correct place in Google Maps by going into the Arc’s Place Details view, then tapping the bottom right toolbar button (arrow pointing up to the right, inside a square). That’ll take you to that place in Google Maps. And from there… ok this is a UI jungle in Google Maps. But ah, I’ve found it, an “Edit” button along the row of buttons that starts with “Directions”. Scroll to the end of that buttons row, get to the Edit button, then that gets you into “Suggest an edit”.
