Custom Map, Daylight/Dark Mode and AI search

Fantasitic job for your new Arc Timeline 4, Matt!I still have some suggestions for requirements:

  1. Export daily/monthly gpx, which has been discussed in depth in other topics, I’m just emphasizing its extreme importance for user;
  2. Custom maps were a highlight in previous versions. I am engaged in outdoor geological work, and in previous versions, I could freely switch between contour maps, city maps, outdoor maps, and even custom map codes based on Mapbox’s functionality, allowing users to view geographic information in conjunction with past paths at any time, However, the current version seems to only display city version maps (daylight model);
  3. When the iPhone is set to Dark Mode, the entire app and map switch to Dark Mode accordingly, without allowing users to choose their display preferences. I hope that at least the map can be customized to the regular mode, as I prefer a Dark Mode iPhone and a Light Mode map;
  4. Can the search function be integrated with a large model to assist users in better searching and analyzing their past journeys?

Thank you very much for your diligent efforts. I look forward to your reply!

Hi @hutudaxian! Thanks for your kind words :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yep, a bunch of people have been asking for this lately. So I’ve reshuffled the priorities for v1.1.

We had previously started work on the full screen calendar view for annotating days that need cleanup. But it’s now clear the daily/weekly auto exports feature is blocking some people from migrating to the new app, and is more broadly used in general than I’d expected.

So now this one (BIG-292) is marked urgent priority, and we’ll work on getting it into v1.1 first. With a hopeful quick/short turnaround on getting v1.1 shipped, rather than trying to cram a whole bunch of new features into it and holding it back.

This one’s also filed! Lemme check the issue number… BIG-146. Ah this one’s actually filed under v1.0.3, so meant to be snuck in as a quick one in a patch release. Though I’m suspecting that won’t happen, and it’ll end up in v1.1 instead (it’s not clear we will ship a v1.0.3 anyway). I’ve also nudged it up to high priority now.

Ah yep, this one also falls under the BIG-146 banner. Will make sure it gets in in the same update!

It already does have a beefy model :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Well, it’s Claude Haiku 4.5. But Haiku is much smarter and more capable than most people give it credit for. What’s currently holding it back is its tooling. Right now it’s only given tooling for the trivial search query construction it’s doing. But the goal is to give it far broader tools, and a chat interface. And ideally also the ability to produce charts and so forth. And also to be able to take edit actions with its tools. I’ve got grand visions.

That one’s filed as… BIG-304. Filed under v1.1, though most likely it’ll slip to v1.2 or v1.3, as it’ll be a chunkier bit of work.
