Can’t change activity type

Arc editor seems to be stuck processing a flight. Since then tracking places and auto assigning activity types work but when I try to change an activity type from Transport to anything else I get a spinning wheel and can’t change it to anything. Specially this flight that was tagged as a boat and I can’t change to airplane. When checking debug info I see that is still processing the day of the flight and a number of activity type detection tasks that have been running since then. Restarting the application doesn’t solve the problem.

UPDATE: it looks like it’s just busy processing the flight. This morning I found it responsive and allowed me to change the activity type to Airplane. When I tried to code the other leg of my flight the same thing happened. So I believe is just processing that blocks the activity selection

Hi! Yeah this one is… it’s an ongoing mystery. There’s no clear pattern yet. For example it doesn’t appear to be related to large single items, or many items to process at once, or any other common pattern. The system just sometimes gets jammed up, deadlocked.

The easiest way to cause it is to page back through many timeline days at once. So there’s at least a pattern of “backlog”, making it more likely to trigger. But beyond that there’s no obvious clues yet.

But I’m on it! It’s a high priority one, that ideally should be resolved soon.

Swiping the app closed and restarting it will almost always resolve the problem. Although you can often just leave the app in the background and it’ll settle down on its own, being fine once you come back later. Though not always.
