Arc Timeline 4 (1.7.5) release notes

Version 1.7.5, 2026-10-07 (Cairo)

• Import your Arc Timeline 3 backups directly from iCloud Drive, in Settings > Backup & Restore. No need to have the old app installed. It brings across only history from before Arc Timeline 4 started recording on your iPhone, so it is for anyone whose earlier years never made it across. (BIG-399)
• Place search now finds the branch you are at, not just the best known ones nearby, and lists the closest matches first. (BIG-820)
• The timeline now stays on the same day after minimising and restoring the list, and no longer freezes on a new install when doing so on iOS 27. (BIG-740)
• Search results now open the day from the weekly, monthly and yearly views, and search answers “per day” and “per week” questions, such as “hours of cycling per week this month”. (BIG-826, BIG-563)
• Jumping to a timeline item from search now scrolls it fully into view. (BIG-773, BIG-812)
• On iOS 26 the Search tab no longer opens the keyboard by itself. Tap the field to type. (BIG-738)
• The subscription screen now retries by itself after a connection failure. (BIG-823)
• Fixed the visit times legend in Japanese, Chinese and other languages. (BIG-786, BIG-810)

Nice! Is the backup importer the same thing I asked about in Merging one Arc databse into another ?

@hwilkinson Not quite, though they’re neighbours. The importer is for history that never made it into Arc Timeline 4: it reads Arc Timeline 3 backup sets and brings across only what’s from before Arc Timeline 4 started recording on the phone, filling in what’s missing and leaving what’s already there as it is. Your #1091 case is combining two phones’ timelines into one, which means fitting the second phone’s trip against whatever the first phone has for those days, places included. That’s the hard part Matt described there. So I wouldn’t point it at the other phone’s backups to stitch the trip in: it isn’t built to fit one phone’s days against another’s. Matt filed the merge as BIG-318, separate from this importer.
