I have noticed the latest version of the app is running my phone battery quickly low. I understand the app is not ready yet so I’ll continue using the Rond app for tracking places and activities. I am hoping Arc will excel at some point but I am afraid it’s going to take a while before a final version is released.
Hi @hvnctzn! Are you talking about Arc Editor? If so, you shouldn’t be seeing any excessive battery usage. That’s not expected, and it should be running just as energy efficiently as old Arc Timeline app, and perhaps even more efficiently.
For comparisons to other apps, Rond won’t be comparable in battery use. That’s a different kind of app, that records different level of detail. Rond doesn’t record the full detail (or possibly any detail) or trips between places, while Arc apps record the full detail of trips between places, to a similar level as recording a workout.
They’re different classes of apps, for different purposes. If Rond does everything you want already, then that’s probably the right app for you! Although if you want the extra detail that Arc records, then you’ll need to accept that there will be slightly higher battery use.
However Arc apps (both Arc Timeline and Arc Editor) can record continuously for 24-48 hours on a single battery charge (48 hours for the Max phone models, with larger batteries). So battery use really shouldn’t be a problem. If it is a problem them something’s going wrong, and we should investigate.
